Autumn is the best surf of the year in Cornwall — cleaner swells, emptier beaches — and half-term is the week to make the most of it before winter.
Every day has one coached surf, timed to the best tide and the light we have left in late October. Around it, the training that makes them better for the whole winter: autumn ocean basics, surf fitness, and a surf-skate session that carries straight into the water.
Four days, Monday to Thursday. Book the days that suit your family — one day, a few days or all four. Each child can come on different days, and every day stands on its own.
Timed to the tide
Every surf below is planned on the Newquay tide chart for that day, in the window that works for young surfers.
Out before dark
Sunset is around 18:15 in half-term week. Every surf finishes well before it, with time to get warm and changed.

Surf 15:00 – 16:00 · dropping tide
A short, sharp start: cold-water kit and how to stay warm, a proper warm-up on the sand, then straight into the first surf on the dropping tide. Out, warm and changed by 16:15.

Surf-skate 13:15 · Surf 16:30 – 17:45
The high tide is in at lunchtime, so we use it. A coached surf-skate session first — the same turns, the same body positions, on land where they can repeat them a hundred times. Then a short land session linking it up, and down to the water as the tide drops to surf what they just skated.

Surf 10:15 – 11:30 · pushing tide
A morning surf on the push after low tide. After lunch: surf fitness they can do at home all winter — mobility, pop-up and balance circuits, paddle strength — wrapped in beach games so it never feels like training.
Thursday 22
11:45 – 15:45
8 places leftLast Surf + Finale
Surf 12:00 – 13:00 · pushing tide
A final midday surf on the pushing tide, then an afternoon on ocean skills — reading a bigger autumn sea (rips, sets and where the channels are), reading the forecast and the beach for themselves, and the habits that keep a young surfer safe through the winter — before the finale on the sand: beach games, the camp awards, and a send-off from Reubin. Finished by 15:45.
The beach is chosen each day from the forecast — Fistral, Towan or Great Western. Reubin confirms where and when to meet the evening before each day; if the forecast moves the best window, the times move with it.
