Cost & Pricing

RSJ programmes are priced against results, not sessions. The measurable, documented progression our surfers achieve — and the methodology behind it — is not available at a surf school price point. That said, we do offer single sessions from £95 for those who want to experience RSJ coaching before committing to a programme.

Yes. For programmes over £500 we offer instalment plans by arrangement. Contact us to discuss options.

For in-person programmes: full refund up to 30 days before the start date, 50% refund 14–30 days before. For the 8-Week Online Programme: full refund after Week 1 if you're not satisfied.

Level Suitability

Yes. Complete beginners start with Private 1-on-1 sessions — we don't run drop-in group beginner lessons, because at the very start your progression matters too much to share a session. Once you've found your feet, our Foundation programme gives new and improving surfers a structured small-group start (max 6 per coach). You can join any membership tier from day one, including Elite — your session options begin as Private 1-on-1 and broaden as your level develops.

This is exactly what RSJ is built for. The Breakthrough programme tackles the intermediate plateau directly — or the 8-Week Online Programme provides structured coaching without requiring a trip. We'd recommend starting with the free Plateau Guide to identify your specific faults.

Yes. We offer fully private 1:1 sessions (and 2:1 or family private) for focused one-to-one coaching. Our Advanced Performance programme also runs as a small group — a 1:6 maximum ratio — with daily 1:1 video feedback. Contact us to discuss a bespoke plan.

Location & Logistics

RSJ coaching can be delivered anywhere in the world. Our scheduled UK programmes run from home bases in Cornwall and Edinburgh (Lost Shore), with additional UK sessions in Devon and Wales. Internationally, our surf camps run in partnership with SASA (Surf Adventures South Africa) — inclusive of their destinations across Namibia, Mozambique, Madagascar and South Africa — and we can arrange bespoke coaching at other global surf spots on request.

Some programmes include accommodation as standard. For others, we recommend partner accommodation and can make introductions. Your programme confirmation will include full logistics details.

Adult sessions and programmes assume you bring your own surfboard and wetsuit. Equipment hire (board £25, wetsuit £15) can be added at booking. For youth sessions, equipment varies by programme — we'll confirm what's needed when you book.

Remote & Online Coaching

Yes. The 8-Week Intermediate Programme is fully online: structured weekly modules, video analysis with coach feedback, dryland training plans, and a live coaching community. You submit surf footage from wherever you surf.

You film your surfing (any phone works — ideally from the beach or a friend in the lineup). Upload it to the platform. Your assigned RSJ coach reviews it and sends back detailed timestamped feedback within 48 hours.

The 8-Week Programme is designed to maximise the impact of every water session. The dryland training and technique education apply between sessions. Many cohort members are landlocked for weeks at a time and still achieve significant documented progression.
