Philosophy is.
Our Story.

Built on one unbreakable philosophy: the Kaizen method of continuous improvement.

Kaizen

Continuous Improvement.

Kaizen is a Japanese concept meaning continuous improvement. At RSJ it is not a tagline. It is the complete operating system of every programme, every session, every drill.

We measure progress, we review footage, we question our own methods — because if we're asking you to keep improving, we'd better be doing the same.

"You will always leave the water better than you entered it."

— RSJ Academy Founding Principle

What Drives Us

01

Progression First

Every session, drill, and feedback loop is designed to move you forward. We measure everything because you can't improve what you can't see.

02

Radical Honesty

Great coaching is honest coaching. We tell you what you need to hear — not what feels comfortable. That's what drives real change.

03

Globally Minded

We coach surfers from every culture and background — on every type of wave, in every ocean around the world.

04

Inclusive Excellence

World-class standards are available to every surfer, not just the elite. The Kaizen methodology applies from your first wave to your last heat.

The Coach

Reubin P.

Reubin P.

Head Coach, Founder and 'Sensei'

Reubin's journey began in competitive surfing, where he learned first-hand the difference between wanting to improve and having a system that guarantees it. After years of coaching surfers across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas, he identified a universal pattern: intermediate surfers don't lack talent — they lack structured feedback.

That realisation became the foundation of the RSJ Kaizen methodology. Every session has a specific, measurable objective. Every wave is filmed and analysed. Every surfer follows a documented progression pathway — because vague improvement is not enough.

As Head Coach and Founder, Reubin leads every aspect of the RSJ coaching philosophy. He personally designs the progression frameworks, trains the coaching team, and continues to coach a select group of athletes — because he believes a methodology is only as good as the results it produces in the water.
